The Renault Clio Maxi is the most emblematic model of the "Kitcar" era, along with the 306 Maxi. In the mid-90s, the two French manufacturers competed in the FIA 2-liter World Championship and the French Championship. Despite the talent of drivers such as Bugalski and Ragnotti, the Clio failed to win either of these titles. In Belgium, on the other hand, a certain Bernard Munster drove the Clio Maxi through the special stages to win the 1995 national championship. With its "Belga" livery, the Belgian Clio made rallying history, even if the adventure ended in an accident on the legendary Ypres Rally.
