In the McRae family they are rally drivers from father to son. Jimmy, father of Colin and Alister, started his career in 1974 and still drives in some national events. In 1985 he entered his fifth season in an Opel and competed for the Opel Euro Team in some ERC and WRC events. After a superb second place at Ieper Rally, Jimmy McRae ended his collaboration with Opel Euro Team on the RAC Rally, "at home". Facing the top of the world rally, the father of Colin realizes a solid performance. As the stages went by he raised his level and finished sixth in the 1985 RAC Rally in his Opel Manta 400. A great finish for his last outing at the wheel of an Opel rally car.
